Beam x Bklyn Combine

This summer, Beam Center partnered with 17 public schools, The Bklyn Combine and others, to bring a hybrid model of STEM learning that combined hands-on making with online learning and community building. To share the success stories, the team invited participating directors and mentors to speak to the program's details and help raise funds for sharing the model with schools whose budgets have been slashed.

Guest speakers included Mali X from Pixod and the Brooklyn Combine, Mycologist Craig Trester, Social Worker Marisol Castaneda, Brian Cohen, and Danny Kahn of Beam Center and guests from Queens Public Library, Jacob Riis Neighborhood Settlement, DoE Regional Enrichment Centers, and CUNY Tutor Corps.
With public doors closed, Beam Center didn't wait to support our community. In the face of the global pandemic, with summer enrichment and youth employment programs canceled, with people in the streets demanding justice for Black Lives, with youth and family service organizations struggling to meet the needs of our city.
Your support helps Beam Center reach hundreds of low-income youth and families that have been hard-hit by COVID-19, school closures and program cuts. Your donation brings learning and hope to NYC young people.
